Top 23 U.S. Weapons Ever Made

Here in the USA we are renowned for having one of the best military forces in the world. Part of this is due to the intense training we give our military personnel. The rest is down to our incredible weaponry advancements. Most other countries actually buy weapons from the USA because we create some of the best. Here are some top weapons made here in America.

The M134 Minigun is a six-barreled, electrically-driven rotary gun originally designed by General Electric. Essentially a miniaturized version of the 20mm M61 Vulcan chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, it was originally designed during the Vietnam War to provide a high-volume-of-fire weapon suitable for mounting on helicopters. Boasting a fire rate of up to 6,000 rounds per minute, the minigun proved far more capable than any single-barreled weapon in this role and, through numerous updates, remains in it to this day.

M249 SAW

The M249 Squad Automatic Weapon, or SAW, is an individually portable, gas operated, magazine or disintegrating metallic link-belt fed, light machine gun with fixed headspace and quick change barrel feature. The M249 engages point targets out to 800 meters, firing the improved NATO standard 5.56mm cartridge. The SAW forms the basis of firepower for the fire team. The gunner has the option of using 30-round M16 magazines or linked ammunition from pre-loaded 200-round plastic magazines. The gunner’s basic load is 600 rounds of linked ammunition.
