Son of Russian Law Maker Sentenced to 27yrs in U.S. for Cyber-fraud

The investigation assessed damages from criminal activity of Roman Seleznev at $170 million. He already called himself a political prisoner.


On Friday, April 21, court in the USA sentenced Russian Roman Seleznev, the son of deputy of the State Duma from LDPR Valery Seleznev, to 27 years of imprisonment.  As it is said in materials of court, Roman Seleznev is found guilty on the case of cyberfraud for $170 million.

According to the investigators, the son of the parliamentarian was engaged in stealing and the subsequent resale of information from credit cards.

The convict already declared that he is a political prisoner and requested help from authorities of the Russian Federation.

It is remarkable that shortly before the court session, Seleznev signed a confession.
