Taliban Spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmedi
A Taliban spokesman has reportedly sent an email in which he inadvertently cc-ed the entire Taliban mailing list.
Qari Yousuf Ahmedi, an official Taliban spokesperson, forwarded a press release from another Taliban spokesman to over 400 recipients, ABC News reported in the US.
The list apparently consisted mainly of journalists, but also included a provincial governor, local politicians, academics and activists.
It also apparently included the personal email addresses of several Taliban members.
Instead of using the BCC (blind carbon copy) function, Ahmedi simply forwarded the email so all addresses could be seen by all recipients.
Kabul-based journalist Mustafa Kazemi, who has 4500 Twitter followers wrote: “Taliban have included all 4 of my email addresses on the leaked distribution list … Quite reassuring to my safety.”
The Taliban regularly use emails to send information to their contacts, usually to claim responsibility for attacks.
Qari Yousuf Ahmedi did not return emails requesting a comment, ABC reported.
